The christening of the LCVP Marvin Perrett. The museum received a generous donation of an LCVP (Landing Craft Vehicle Personnel) from Mr. Rick Kogler of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Mr. Kogler and Mr. Marvin Perrett were close personal friends, and Mr. Kogler requested that we re-christen the craft in memory of Mr. Marvin Perrett. Mr. Perrett was a coxswain on a landing craft for the invasion of Normandy, D-Day, June 6, 1944. Later in WWII, Mr. Perrett was transferred to the Pacific Theatre, where he drove a landing craft for the invasion of both Iwo Jima and Okinawa. |

Board Member Will Theriot lining up in “The Hawk” for the Fourth of July parade. For the Fourth of July, the museum helped citizens celebrate our independence with three activities, starting with a memorial service at Veterans Memorial Park, continuing with a parade along Highway 311 from the Park to the Houma Civic Center, and ending with music, attractions, free food and drinks, and fireworks on the grounds of the Civic Center. The event was co-sponsored by SEECA eye specialists, HTV-Channel 10 (Houma), and the Regional Military Museum. |
